Sony Ericsson WTA Tour

Kirsten Wallace is Director of Marketing and Sponsorship at  the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, which she joined in 2005 to ensure the successful launch of the Sony Ericsson partnership, the largest sponsorship in the history of women’s sport.  She and the sponsorship team have successfully executed Sony Ericsson’s partnership benefits at nearly 60 events in 34 countries  , including a worldwide television campaign for the global launch of Sony Ericsson’s  Cybershot phone integrating Tour players Ana Ivanovic and Daniela Hantuchova; title sponsorship of events in Miami, Bangalore and the end of seasons Championships in Madrid; a mobile live scoring tennis website; and Night Tennis, an entertainment-driven tennis nightclub experience.

As head of the Marketing and Sponsorship department, Kirsten oversees the development of the Tour marketing plan, individual player brand development, sponsorship sales, research and the continued global relationship with Sony Ericsson.

Prior to joining the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, Kirsten served as Director of Marketing at Tennis Canada, where she oversaw the marketing and sponsorship of tennis events in Canada including the Rogers Cup, the ATP Masters and Davis Cup.  In this capacity, she played a key role in television production, digital media strategy, event advertising, sponsorship sales and title sponsorship services.

An honours graduate of Smith College, Kirsten excelled in both academics and athletics, earning Academic All American awards in both tennis and squash and completing an honours thesis in psychology.  She later returned to Smith to receive her Masters in Exercise and Sports Studies where she received a fellowship from Nike to study the impact of sport on the self esteem of adolescent girls.  Her masters thesis examined the role of esteem in risk taking within adolescent female athletes.

Kirsten is currently living in St. Petersburg, Florida and is engaged to be married at the end of the year.
